LeeAnn & Baileys

August 2006 Award Winner: LeeAnn, Foster sister
Nominated by: Mr. Baileys, Black Giant Schnauzer

"My Adventures by Baileys"

Hello SCGSR,

My name is Baileys -- short for Baileys Irish Cream -- and I'm a neutered boy GS (Giant Schnauzer to the rest of you). I want to tell you about my adventures with LeeAnn. LeeAnn is my new 12-year-old friend. She has two other dogs, but she wanted me to have lots of love, so I got to stay in her room. She gave me a nice bed on the floor, and a pillow too. I liked her so much that I took my pillow up on the bed to be closer to her. We went for a run every morning and every evening. She made sure my hair was brushed until it was shiny. She said she felt bad that I didn't have a real home anymore and no one to love me.

LeeAnn gave me all the love I needed and even some training too. I learned to sit to be petted. I learned to walk nicely on a leash and not pretend I was a sled dog in Alaska. She took me to visit her friend who lives just a few doors down. She taught me cool music and how to dress if I'm ever a pre-teenager. I also know that something called "Johnny Depp" is the best ever as a "pie rate" or something. Oh, oh, oh, and if you go to middle school, keep an eye out for who wears lip gloss. I don't know why, but you HAVE to do that.

LeeAnn understands me so well. She hugged me all the time and said she loved my eyes. She taught me how to play in the water with the hose. I got her wet too -- ha, ha. She gave me a Kong toy with the best tasting stuff in it. She said it was called "peanut butter." She made me a part of her life and taught me how good it feels to be loved for just being me, Baileys. She calls me "Bay Leaves" too.

Now, when I go to the next chapter in my adventure, I can show other people how I love them. It is very important to learn about love, to know how good it feels to have someone care for you and about you. Hugging and petting feel good and make me happy. LeeAnn taught me that!

LeeAnn also spent a lot of time showing me how to be an extra great dog. She says that love means teaching what is expected of me, even when no one is looking. LeeAnn said we were doing "Extreme Dog Makeovers." And you know what? When she was done, I did feel like a new dog. Now I can go to my forever home with my good doggie manners and show off all that I learned.

I'm going to miss LeeAnn, but I know she will always love me. She thinks the best thing for me is to find a home and people who will love me forever. I think the best thing for all dogs is to get a LeeAnn in their life. That way they will know what love is and how good it feels.

Thank you LeeAnn for being my friend and showing me how fun life can be. I promise I will always think of you as my friend and sleepover pal. Thank you for not getting mad that I took your socks and put them in the water. Thank you for giving me your love and understanding.

Love from your forever friend,

Baileys

P.S. I was the one who spilled the ice tea on your bed.
